So , if Jesus is without sin , why does he need to sanctify himself ? If sanctification is the process of becoming holier ,

why does Jesus need to become holier ?

(without the Fallen Human Nature) .

in the same sense as Adam , and without sin

I have long thought that Jesus was made fully human

Thoughts on John 17:19 :

I think he doesn't need to become holier .

If the basic meaning of “sanctify” is to 'set apart to God' ,

Then perhaps Jesus' sanctifying himself

is more of a demonstration to all creation , of continually "setting himself apart to God" .

Jesus is after all , a teacher , "the firstborn of many brethren" .
